For parents interested in joining the Foundation Board, here is some information about the process and position expectations.
The Ashford Park Foundation Board consists of up to 21 members. Each year we have some turn over in positions as families graduate out of the school and as existing members pass down the responsibility to newer families.
We collect interest in board positions at the start of the school year and vote on the open positions by the September meeting. We recommend that incoming board members have served in either a lead role or multiple smaller roles for the school for at least one year. We ask all board members to serve a minimum two year term. The responsibilities of a board member are:
- Attend all Foundation meetings possible. We cannot hold a vote without a quorum of the board so attendance is critical.
- Vote on funding requests during meetings and ad hoc via email.
- Serve as a leader in the school-parent community by staying heavily involved and willing to support the school as needs arise. Board members are “How can I help?” volunteers.
- Be a positive advocate of Ashford Park through support of our administration, teachers, and the Foundation and PTOs efforts to continually enhance our students’ experiences.
To become a nominee for a board position, please email ashfordparkpta@gmail.com a short description of your interest in the role, how you plan to contribute to the community in the coming year, and your experience so far volunteering with the school.
Thank you for your interest and support of our awesome school!
